Mānuka essential oil is a pure concentrated oil distilled from mānuka leaf.
At Native Tree Farm we produce this oil from our mānuka plantation, located in the hills of Whakatāne, New Zealand.
How We Produce It
The oil is produced by slow steam distillation of mānuka leaf using fresh spring water that comes from an underground flow. The process takes 5–6 hours.
What Determines the Quality?
The quality of mānuka essential oil depends on the overall quality of the materials used to produce it.
We use high grade organic mānuka leaf, clean spring water, and a careful distillation process. This way of doing things enhances the quality of the oil we produce.
What’s in Our Mānuka Essential Oil?
The composition of Native Tree Farm Mānuka essential oil has been analysed using gas chromatography. It shows a special blend of properties as well as being rich in β-triketones.
Our oil shows a profile rich in β-triketones, leptospermone, isoleptospermone and flavesone. These compounds are known for their strong anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
Other compounds in the oil include calamenene, cis-muurola-3,5-diene, and β-elemene. These compounds are associated with anti-inflammatory and skin-supporting properties.
The Aroma Profile
Our mānuka essential oil contains floral top notes and woodsy, herbaceous depth. β-triketones and calamenene contribute to both the functional properties and the aromatic profile of the oil.
